Quote of the Day

So, if you are too tired to speak, sit next to me because I, too, am fluent in silence.” – R. Arnold

Sometimes there are no words that help. No words that can change the situation. No words that can ease our burden. But we still need someone to sit with us, so we don’t have to bear the weight of it alone.

  1. Three makes two: you, another, and God. The another doesn’t even have to be human. In the earliest days of recovery from betrayal trauma, my “therapist” was an 11 pound Shih Tzu named Callie. I would sit with Callie and tell her about my troubles. She always listened, especially if I held a treat in my hand while we spoke. God was listening, too, and the healing commenced.

  2. That’s a poignant quote. Thanks for sharing it as I don’t think I’d heard it before. You’re absolutely right – silence in companionship can be powerful, just to have that comfort and connection to know we’re not alone. xx
