“You may shoot me with your words. You may cut me with your eyes. You may kill me with your hatefulness. But still, like air, I’ll rise.” – Maya Angelou
Let these words inspire you when the struggle feels too much.
When you feel defeated, and there’s pressure to give in.
Inside you, there is courage.
You are brave, and you are strong.
There is no-one … there is nothing … that is going to bring you down.
For that life force that’s within you: it will have the final word.
And you will win the battle.
Like the phoenix:
You will rise.
Thanks for sharing this. Maya Angelou reminds us that the way we look at people can hurt them, (or also comfort them, depending on our motivation).
So much of communication is non-verbal.
May God give the grace to use all of our communication skills to encourage others. 🌷🤗

Yes, the way we look at people, and the tone of voice we use, can be healing or damaging. That is my prayer too … that we use all our communication skills to encourage others. Thanks for the comment Sally.

I really needed this week when I felt someone attacking me.. Those things do hurt but the only thing that now saves me is knowing really its about them.. kind and loving people do not need to attack others to try and make themselves feel bigger.. thank you for this .. ❤

Those are such wise words. Kind and loving people don’t need to attack others to try to make themselves bigger. But I’m truly sorry you are living through this as well … It’s very painful 😦

A beautiful sentiment. It reminded me of a verse from Scripture. “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me…To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness,The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified” (Isa. 6: 1, 3).
