Thoughts on Life and Relationships

When I was younger, I believed that people were basically kind, and caring and good.

I believe that people were reliable. That they could be trusted. That their word was their bond.

I believed that if someone told me they loved me, then they meant what they said, and they really did.

I believed that if I did the right things for others, then they would be good to me in return.

I believed in people.

I believed so much.

But as I grew older that began to change.

Perhaps it is good that I now know the truth.

But I miss that rose-tinted reality.

      • I’m learning to be that “Rose Tint” for the world as an extention of God’s “Glory Tint!” If I love my neighbor as myself, then the “Rose Tint” start in me and then out it dances to others. *just a thought *

      • But the effects of betrayal trauma are REAL. When someone you love turns their back on you it can feel like the whole world is against you.

I lost my marriage and my career as a minister in the same year. But God helped me rebuild. Today, I am happily married and about to finished my 16th year of teaching!

If you’re reading this, it’s not too late for you either. 🙏❤️

      • Thank you for your vulnerability, and for being willing to share this here, David. That is huge! What a lot you went through, and what a lot you went through at one time. So many losses. So much pain.
I’m glad you can tell us the end of the story, and share what life can be like years on.
No, it’s not too late for anyone at all. I pray that your story will give hope to someone who needs to hear that story today.

  1. As disappointing as it is, it’s good to realize that “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) That’s the bad news, but it sets us up for the good news – “The wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.” (Romans 6:23). 🙂
